Excelsior Hotel is one of the oldest hotels outside Casablanca’s old medina.
When it opened in 1918, it was considered state-of-the-art, featuring modern amenities of the time, such as electricity, an elevator, heating, and private bathrooms in each room.

In front of Excelsior hotel, lays a huge building with 3 façades. The building is a striking example of Casablanca Art Deco, with an elegant façade, strong vertical lines, decorative details, and upper floors featuring terraces covered in traditional red and green Zellij tiles.
The building was owned by one of the most powerful and influential figures in early 20th century Morocco.
